Everybody loves Bella AND Jenna February 19, 2008
Reviewer: Mister Griggs
Jenna is at the peak of her pulchritude in this art-porn flick from 2003 - she's no longer the curvy, all-natural girl from the early days of gonzo and her first features, but neither is she the unfortunately over-tanned, under-fed, and hyper-augmented starveling who retired from porn in a bittersweet tirade at the AVN Awards this year. She is taut, sleek and still beautiful, and her performance, always accounting for the distracting elements in the direction, is worthy of her legacy.
Jenna has two sex scenes out of the five in the movie, but it's a feature, and her presence is felt out of all proportion to that number; it's all about her psychological distress. The plot is kind of murky, bringing together a lot of weird elements - Nazis, mental hospitals, family trauma, a weird guy on a tricycle - that may leave you cold if you were looking for straight-up gonzo, but will definitely add to the appeal for the couple looking for something a little sharper-edged than the standard Wicked or Vivid feature effort. in other words, be prepared for some details that aren't sexy at all, unless you just get off on the weird.
Both Bella and Jenna give great performances - Bella's turn with ex-boyfriend Nacho Vidal, himself a perennially spectacular performer, is a barn-burner, and the scene Bella and Jenna share is as hot as you would expect it to be. The rest of the scenes are good - not particularly outstanding, but there's no lack of talent or heat either.
The movie predates the (currently waning) alt scene by a couple of years, and it was the second of the X Loves Y (or X Loves X, if we're talking about chromosomes} movies that follow the damned-girl's-last-moments formula that Jenna made, after Briana Loves Jenna but before Janine Loves Jenna. The three movies stand as a pretty solid whole, if you're interested in seeing them all.
The typical crappy, over-produced porn that you get with big name stars October 13, 2006
Reviewer: Nightfall
Bella loves Jenna is one of the most disappointing adult films I've ever bought. I figured, "how can I go wrong when Jenna's in it?" Just remember, when porn stars get as big as Jenna is, they stop producing good porn and put out limp crap with very little hot sex and a lot of weird, artsy-fartsy filming techniques. Jenna has one decent scene on this entire dvd, and it's only decent because it really shows off how beautiful Jenna really is. The sex isn't that good, but Jenna is so fucking beautiful that it makes the whole scene. Watching her absolutely gorgeous face accept her partner's goopy jism is worth at least half the price of the dvd.
The "theme" of the dvd is having sex with the dead. But the dead aren't really dead. They come to vivid life when various vixens heat up their cold bodies and bring them back to the land of the living with the joys of sex. The one scene on the whole dvd that could possibly be called "hot" occurs between Belladonna and a dark-haired stud who apparently died in an industrial accident. Belladonna shows us how easily she can take an enormous cock up her ass, take it quite violently, and enjoy it. Bellladonna is simply incredible when it comes to nasty sex. She can do it all. But the problem is, the dvd is supposed to feature Jenna as much as it features Bella, and it doesn't.
Push come to shove, this dvd is really more for Bella fans than it is for Jenna fans. My advice is, look for something less artsy fartsy and more Jenna.

What do cannibals, Nazis, creepy guys on tricycles, Hannibal Lector masks, water torture, necrophilia fantasy, and electric chairs have in common? They all appear in Bella Loves Jenna. I'm assuming this title was pitched as "high-concept" porn. And to its credit, the film does have sophisticated camera work and some interesting effects, but it is also packed with every dream sequence/mind-of-a-psychopath cliché known to the cinematic science. It's like a freshman film student's homage to David Lynch and David Cronenberg. They follow those director's patterns, but without much meaning behind it all. Which is too bad because there are some fine sex scenes which would've been better without the overwrought "gee, aren't we edgy?" trappings.... Read the Full Review!
